17 November 2024 – The Malaysia Open International Combat Silat Championship 2024, which took place over four days at UiTM Selangor, concluded with a closing ceremony and award presentation. The ceremony was officiated by YAB Dato' Seri Amirudin Bin Shari, Dato' Menteri Besar of Selangor and attended by YB Tuan Mohd Najwan Halimi, Exco for Youth, Sports & Entrepreneurship of Selangor.
Also present were YBhg. Professor Datuk Dr. Shahrin Sahib, Vice-Chancellor of UiTM, YBrs. Professor Dr. Hj. Mohd Sazili Shahibi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs), UiTM, YBrs. Professor Dr. Ahmad Taufek Abdul Rahman, Rector of UiTM Selangor, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Dr. Hj. Mohamad Ali Mohamad, Deputy President of the National Silat Federation Malaysia (PESAKA) and Tuan Mohamad Nizam Marjugi, Executive Director of the Selangor State Sports Council.
The event, which drew 1,239 contestants established UiTM Selangor as the first public university in Malaysia and Selangor to organize an international silat competition. It is hoped that the collaboration between UiTM Selangor, the State Government and Sports Associations will continue to strengthen, leading to more high-performance sports events in the future.
